The life of a mompreneur

I’m a busy mom first and a busy mompreneur second. My children just turned 4 and 5. It’s amazing to think that my first child was just a newborn when I started tinkering with Bare™. When my son was 2 I decided I was going to take two years off work to get Bare™ up and running and now….. 3 years later, we’re finally close to launching. Keeping my fingers crossed!

How to teach your baby to properly latch onto your breast

When a mom initiates breastfeeding with her newborn, there’s a lot of trial and error involved. An improper or a shallow latch by the baby may cause nipple soreness and excessive air ingestion by your baby. This will usually lead to a frustrated, colicky and gassy baby, which often turns what should be a pleasurable time into a uncomfortable/painful experience for both you and your baby.

Social Media

I recently attended a Social Media Webinar where they highlighted how to engage a community and make a really popular website. While I was listening to the speaker I was thinking about you, my great pool of fans, that I engage with on a regular basis.

Then I started thinking about the personal rewards I get from this interaction that we share. When I see that I have created something that makes you so excited that you want to share it with your friends, I feel truly rewarded

Where can I buy this bottle already!!!

Hi readers, yes... I hear you. Lots of you are asking “where can I buy it, I need it NOW.” Well we are working at the speed of light to bring you BARE as soon as we can. As I mentioned before BARE is going thru rigorous tests to perform its best. A safe assumption is that we will have distribution in the summer/fall.

Moms know better

Necessity is the mother of invention. No one knows better than a mom when it comes to her baby’s needs. Moms constantly question the purpose of many mom/baby products on the market. They often encounter useless products that fail to serve their needs. In order to make her baby comfortable and make her life easier, moms are constantly coming up with a better way of doing things and either invent something totally new or modify an existing product. Some of these moms share their ideas with other moms who often say, “Oh you should sell that, it’s so useful!!” Then, a product is born along with a new career.

While many moms are novices in the formation of a business enterprise, their desire to share their products with the world serves as a catalyst to embark in the manufacturing world. Each step along the way has its own rewards and gratification.

Personally, I find it tremendously gratifying that moms who have heard of BARE air-free are very anxious to use it with their babies because it fulfills a common, yet unmet need.

As I’m moving ahead with the production of BARE, I want to promote other moms who have had a brilliant idea and have turned it into a product. So every month Bittylab will be teaming up with mom-invented products and hosting giveaway contests. Be sure to participate and support moms in business.

See BARE working

Hello there,
I'm very excited to share a little quick video with you!!
What you see here is a pre-production prototype working with a breast pump (to simulate baby suction). Pay attention to the Perfe-latch™ nipple extending upon suction and the Air-plug™ moving to keep and dispense air-free milk.

Enjoy!!

BARE air-free is the second most natural way of feeding your baby, but is it Green?

At Bittylab, we believe that good nutrition begins at day one. Breast milk is the best nutrition for babies. When you can’t breastfeed, BARE is here to help you and your baby with a good start.

  • Promotes breastfeeding: the Perfe-latch™ nipple is a device that behaves like a prosthetic feeding nipple. Because it starts small, it helps baby learn to open his mouth wide to get a latch onto the areola part, only then the small nipple touches his/her tongue and triggers the suction process. Once baby sucks, the nipple stretches to reach between the soft and hard palette and begins to dispense milk. Another reason to breastfeed is because mom produces milk with different nutrient values at different times of the day. Other bottles make feeding too easy for the baby; they dispense milk before baby begins to suck and the unnatural nipple shape promotes improper latching by allowing baby to latch on the tip.
  • Safest materials available: BARE air-free baby bottles are made with the same safe material as medical devices, like syringes for example. BARE is BPA-free, PVC-free, Lead-free & Phthalate-free.
  • Economical and better for the environment: BARE has no consumable components like drop-in bags that are used once and discarded, adding to landfill waste. BARE’s components are designed to be sterilized and reused hundreds of times before needing replacement. BARE was engineered to minimize the amount of material in production to reduce environmental impact. All parts are designed for easy disassembly and washing to promote good hygiene.
  • Healthier feeding: BARE’s ability to dispense milk without air vents creates an air-tight environment. The lack of air inside a BARE bottle inhibits bacteria growth and retains milk nutrients longer for healthier feeding. The patented air-plug™ helps prevent baby’s backwash from penetrating the bottle. This vent-less system dispenses air-free milk to help prevent air swallowing that leads to gas and colic in babies. BARE allows baby to take only what he/she needs by dispensing milk upon suction only.
As responsible parents, we try to find a balance between sustainability, affordability, and leading a healthy lifestyle in general. One of the easy things to do was breastfeed my babies for as long as I could. Well, things don’t always work according to plan. As a result, BARE air-free was born to help combo moms continue to breastfeed. That’s my contribution towards making earth a better place.

Mompreneur

In the long journey of making BARE air-free baby bottles, I came across a group of ladies that have helped me bring a lot of my thoughts together. This network lives within Facebook and its members are mompreneurs that have products in the market. Most of us will attend the ABC Kids Show in Kentucky and I will meet them for the first time.

Some of these moms have been doing this for years and some are start-ups like myself. Some sell specifically in local boutiques, some of it are in big national chains. I have to say, I wish I knew about all of these useful products when I was pregnant. I’m happy to learn about them while I can still use them with my 2 kids (3 and 4 years old). It’s amazing to see the common denominator amongst these moms and learn that overall 65% of moms feel neglected by large corporations when it comes to convenience and usability of products.

July... Oh my!!

Dear readers July has been really busy for me. Between manufacturing negotiations, retail logistics and fundraising, I barely had time for anything else. I'm pleased to announce that hundreds of moms who hear about BARE air-free tell me they loooooooooove the product. My kickstarter inbox is over flowing with loving emails wishing me luck and telling me how much they wish this product was around when they needed it.

We are now in the process of manufacturing BARE. It took 2 years of research and interviews to select the US manufacturer that can make this bottle with the latest advancements in technology and co-molding capabilities in-house. Very soon we will have our first BARE bottles ever made in production scale, I'm soooooo excited!!

I've begun talking to capital investors about funding the bigger production in 2013. I'm sure my quest for funding will generate interesting material for future Bittylab blog updates. I should check out Sharktank!!

Oh, I almost forgot! BARE air-free have been selected as a finalist on Mommy MD Guides. Vote for BARE!!!
